Apple Introduces the New iPad 8th Generation: The Most Affordable Tablet in Apple’s Line-Up

On the 15th of September, Apple held a launch even called ‘Time Flies’. This event was pretty interesting with four magnificent devices launched in total. They include, the Apple Watch series 6, Apple Watch SE, iPad Air 4th generation and the iPad 8th gen. In this article, you’ll be knowing everything you need to know about this fascinating iPad 8th generation.  Without further ado, let us start off with its configurations.

The Most Powerful Entry Level iPad Ever

The iPad 8th generation has the most powerful processor for an entry level device ever produced. This iPad contains A12 iBionic chip that would make the CPU performance a terrific 40% faster. The graphic power is going to be twice the power than any other entry-level iPad. Apple claims that this iPad is significantly three times faster than a top-selling android table. It also claims to be faster than the top windows laptop and apparently, 6 times faster than the top-selling Chromebook. This A12 iBionic chip in the iPad is truly terrific. The neural engine would totally enhance everything, from Siri’s performance to photo editing and Augmented Reality apps.

Display and Design

There isn’t a significant change in the design of this new iPad 8th generation. It still possesses the same old bezels. It has a display size of 10.2 inches and a touch ID button placed in its usual place i.e. the bottom of the iPad underneath the screen. This device comes in three iconic color variants i.e. space grey, silver and gold. We all know the most of the iPads are light and breezy. This one’s also the same. It comes in a thickness of 0.29 inches and a light weight of 0.2 pounds.

Apple Pencil and iPad OS 14

We have one good news and one bad news here. First let us look at the bad news. The iPad 8th generation will not be supporting the latest Apple pencil. Instead, it would be supporting the first-gen Apple pencil. You’ll have to gawkily charge it in the lightning port. But here’s the good news, the new iPad OS 14 will bring a fascinating set of features that can be elegantly carried out with the first-gen Apple Pencil. With this, you can instantly convert your rough scribbles into text which will keep your notes organized. Scribble uses on-device machine learning that will convert handwriting into typed text in real time, so writing is always kept private and secure. There’s also a feature called shape recognition where you’ll be able to create a more polished look for your drawings and presentation.

The iPad OS 14 brings an improved set of features to the new iPad. It includes new side bars for many distinctive apps inclusive of Photos and Files. It now has an improvised version of Universal Search. It can now quickly find anything, from locating to launching apps. It can also access contacts, files and other information. It can also get you answers about people and places. This time, there will be better Home Screen widgets and compact designs for Siri, FaceTime and phone calls.

The not-so-fascinating Camera

We all know that Apple does not focus much when it comes to the camera systems in iPads. As usual, this iPad comes with an 8 MP rear camera. Although it might not produce sharp images, but thanks to the A12 iBionic chip which partly improvises the camera. There’s no option of portraits but you can happily shoot live photos. As per the front camera, the iPad 8th gen will be possessing a 1.2 MP which is quite low but still adjustable for FaceTime calls.

Battery Life and Connectivity

The all new iPad 8th generation has a battery lie of up to 10 hours of surfing and video watching. But this can dip to 9 hours with the LTE model. It comes with a 32.4 Watt-hour battery which is quite acceptable. This device supports gigabit class LTE connectivity. It comes in a Wi-Fi Model and a Wifi+Cellular model. It is portable and durable as well with a sleek ultra-fast performance.
